Health Rules
1. No entries showing clinical evidence of infectious or contagious or parasitic disease or under quarantine for any disease shall be admitted to a show. All cattle entries must be identified by an official ear tag. An official health certificate prepared by the Bureau of Animal Industry, Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture, is optional.
2. All cattle entries should be vaccinated against Infectious Bovine Rhinotracheitis and Shipping Fever with modified live virus vaccine not less than 30 days and not more than 6 months before the opening date of the show. A report of such vaccination specifying the biologics used and the date of administration, written by an accredited veterinarian, is advised but not mandatory for Middletown Grange Fair.
3. All animals shall be owned by exhibitor. An official will check registration papers. No animal can be unloaded which does not conform to the regulations. If you have not received registration papers, be sure to have a confirmation of application for registry.
4. Only grooming products that are approved for use on meat and dairy animals are permitted when fitting animals for show. No product with ingredients that result in residues in meat or milk are allowed or permitted. If you are not sure a product is residue safe do not use it. Important! If upon slaughter, drugs, biologics, or any chemical from fitting products is the cause of condemnation of a carcass, the loss of the carcass and any other damages will be borne by the exhibitor.
Rules
1. Exhibitors will be expected to display or parade their animals as directed by the Chairmen; to accept the stall assigned without controversy; to keep their animals in attractive appearance, and to cooperate with the Department in every way that may serve to increase the educational value of the show.
2. Exhibitors of livestock are responsible for verifying the time when their stock will be judged. Stock must be in the ring promptly on call and a failure to comply with the order renders exhibitors liable to be ruled out of competing.
3. Decorations with ribbons or ornaments previously won by animals at shows shall be prohibited until after the awards have been made in their respective classes by the judges.
4. Exhibitors must have all non-lactating animals listed for competition on the grounds not later than 10:00 AM on August 17th. All such animals shall remain on the premises until 4:00 PM on August 21st, unless released by the Chairmen. Lactating animals must be on the grounds no later than 10:00 AM the morning of their respective show and are excused immediately following their show.
5. The exhibitors will be expected to keep the space they occupy in a clean and sanitary condition and to remove all equipment promptly as the Superintendent may direct.
6. A current rabies vaccination, administered by a licensed veterinarian, is required for animals 3 months of age and older, (market cattle are exempt from this requirement). All vaccine label directions must be followed and all rabies vaccinated cattle must be accompanied by a rabies vaccination certificate or the vaccination information must be included on the CVI. If a rabies vaccination certificate is provided it must contain legible name and contact information of the veterinarian who administered the vaccine and their signature. A copy of this certificate is acceptable.

2011 ANIMAL HEALTH REGULATIONS
The NEW law in Pennsylvania requires that a “Veterinarian-Client-Patient Relationship” exists and is verified for EACH exhibitor. This new requirement is in ADDITION to any pre-existing Health Certificate (now called “Certificate of Veterinary Inspection”) or herd certification requirements.To meet this requirement, a signed verification from the animal owner or caretaker, using the form on the following page, MUST be completed by each exhibitor.
Upon arrival of an animal at our Fair, a complete and signed relationship form MUST BE COLLECTED from each exhibitor. This form is in addition to the normal ”health papers”, which have been used for years.
