Breeding Sheep

Rules
1. Entries
close July 22, 2010.
2. Substitutes
will not be accepted after midnight, August 7,
2010.
3. Entry fees
must be paid at the time of making
entries.
4. Entry fee
is $1.00 per head; Bucks County 4-H entries are free,
but members must fill out an entry
blank.
5.
All entered animals
must be owned by the exhibitor at least 30 days before the Show, AND MUST BE MARKED WITH PERMANENT
PENNSYLVANIA DESIGNATED EAR TAG OR
TATTOO.
6. Entry fees
will not be refunded unless the applicant withdraws his entry before
July 22, 2010.
7.
Breed number
requirement - in order for the breed to be shown there must be a
total of 15 head entered and exhibited by 3 different breeders.
(Decision is at the discretion of the show
committee).
8. All animals
must be in place by 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, the first day of the Fair
and remain in the Fair Grounds until 4:00 P.M., Sunday, the last day
of the Fair.
The only
exception will be those exhibitors who have permission from the Fair
Chairman to attend another Sheep Show.
Violators
will automatically forfeit their premiums.
9. Any number
of animals may be entered in a class, but only two (2) of these
animals can receive premiums or
ribbons.
10. Sheep showing clinical signs
of contagious, infectious or external parasitic disease including
foot rot will NOT be admitted to any
show.
11. Any show sheep must be
individually identified by a PERMANENT PENNSYLVANIA DESIGNATED ear
tag or tattoo.
12. The flock of origin,
including sheep consigned to a show, shall be examined by an
accredited veterinarian. The veterinarian must prepare the official
health certificate and must state on the health certificate that he
examined the entire flock and found no evidence of contagious,
infectious or external parasitic disease. The date of examination
must also appear on the health certificate. All sheep from other
states must be accompanied by an interstate health certificate
issued by an accredited veterinarian indicating an examination
fur health within 30 days.

1. Wool exhibited
must be produced by the exhibitor who must have owned the sheep from
which the fleece was shorn.
2. Exhibits are open
to both PUREBRED and COMMERCIAL flocks.
3. Exhibits will be
placed in clear plastic bags.
NATURAL
COLORED WOOLS
The
purpose of this Show is to encourage the production of better
fleeces of colored wool for home spinners and weavers. In addition
to the general rules, the following apply specifically to the
natural colored wool classes.
Disqualifications:
Any fleece
entered for competition in the Natural Colored Wool Show shall be
discriminated against and subject to disqualification if
showing any definite defect including the
following:
1. Any fleece not
skirted, removing excessive dirt, plant material, tags,
etc.
2. Showing any paint
or tar brand substances.
3. Discolored from
excessive moisture, oxidation or showing effects of
cotting.
